My sheriff’s office bloodline originated at the Washington County Historic Courthouse, Stillwater, Minnesota, and continued to the current law enforcement center, where I retired. My most meaningful assignment in my twenty-seven years in law enforement was to become an advocate for children who have been abused or neglected. Developing a solid allegiance between child protection services and law enforcement is essential to the child-first doctrine.
